The Language of Love
We all speak different languages
in various parts of earth,
And these are learned when we are young,
not long after birth.
There are many dialects
heard in different places,
A variety in speaking
among the various races.
In one language can all people
everywhere have a part
In understanding the meaning
that comes from the heart.
It overcomes all boundaries,
whether near or far,
And every racial barrier,
no matter who you are.
You can speak to others
through the things that you do,
By giving to all those
who are less fortunate than you,
With willingness to comfort
and to lend a helping hand;
The language of love is one
that all can understand.
I Lift Up My Eyes
(Based on Psalm 121)
Unto the hills I lift my eyes,
Where does my help come from?
From the Lord my help will always come
As he every need supplies.
The Maker of heaven and the earth
Will ever watch over you,
Will guard you in everything you do
From the moment of your birth.
He'll protect you by day and by night,
And will neither slumber nor sleep,
But safe from harm he will keep
Through the darkness and in the sunlight.
The Lord who has guarded your life before
Will continue both now and forevermore.
How Great the Love
The love of God, how great it is,
so marvelous and pure!
It never falters, never fails;
it always will endure.
It reaches higher than the heavens,
deeper than the sea.
God's love surrounds His whole creation -
how He cares for me!
This love we could never hope to earn
because of our own merit,
But as children of God, through our dear brother Christ,
we become free to inherit.
Nothing can separate us from God's love
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
We are precious to Him, so dearly beloved,
ever cherished and adored.
At times when life is a struggle,
and things just aren't going quite right,
Remember the One who loves you,
the source of all goodness and light.
We need never face our troubles alone;
God's love ever enfolds us.
Our shield and defender, divine protector
eternally guards and upholds us.
God loved us so much that He sent His Son
to show us the way to life.
He guides and supports us, tenderly holds us
through our suffering, pain and strife.
Our sins are forgiven and love floods our hearts
when we truly trust and believe it.
How great is the love that through grace God gives;we need only accept and receive it.
A MOMENT OF QUIET PEACE
Life too often is spent
in a great hurry and rush,
Without ever taking time
for a gentle, quiet hush,
Always staying busy
with activities that won't cease,
Never finding a moment
for a calm, reflective peace.
Much of the beauty of nature
is found in quiet things,
Like softly falling snowflakes
and butterfly wings,
The petals that drop gently
from a lovely, fragrant rose,
Sweet calmness that descends on us
in times of deep repose.
The silence of day's dawning,
when the grass is wet with dew,
Is a chance for meditating
on things both old and new.
Taking time to feel God's presence
when all is calm and still
Can help us get our lives on track
and focus on God's will.
